We recently chatted with the Acumba dance singer signed to CV records recently, excerpts;
A: I am Ejoh Ugochi Vivian from Imo state, Owerri, Precisely Ngor-Okpala LCDA, born and bred in Lagos, Nigeria with all the levels of education acquired
Q: Challenges Growing?
A: Smiles, it was fun growing in the hoods with other kids with huge dreams to play and interact with. Life in the ghetto gives you all round class of discovering yourself
Q: What inspired you to be an artiste?
A: Entertainment most especially the musical genre was an in born activity. From the beginning it was a noisy venture, a way of passing out time in class way back in secondary school. I used to sing loud during prep hours, drum on my table instead of joining other kids to play the foot game. With time, i joined the school choir where i learnt a little about music note and from there my huge interest in music developed.
Q: You have a couple of works out, akumba dance and naija gyrate, how has the acceptance been?
A: The reception has not been bad, as a matter of fact, its been very encouraging, larger than we expected.
Q: Challenges in the Industry?
A: Its the usual preference of male performers to the females, but gradually that's fading and the reception is upgrading, i see our culture as a factor contributing to the issues the female gender has, but today, inter-cultural influences from other countries in the world has given us much needed light for equity between the female and male performing artistes.
Q: Where do you see yourself in a couple of years?
A: Some two years ago, i was crawling, now its a platform of recognition of my presence in the industry and a few years from now, the brand DAMSEL will become one to reckon with.
