Abuja – Tears were running down the face of family and friends on Saturday as 17-year old Friday Njengo, a member of the Golden Eaglets, was buried in his hometown, Kaltungo, Gombe State.

Njengo was a regular in the Eaglets’ squad before a car crash took his life on February 3. The promising player was on his way to Calabar for the team’s first phase of final camping ahead of the 2013 African U-17 Championship in Morocco.
The funeral began on Friday with officials of the Nigeria Football Federation and some family members taking possession of his body from the National Hospital in Abuja.
The funeral was attended by a delegation of officials from the NFF as well as several coaches and football dignitaries.
According to a press statement, the funeral was a very sad event with attendants being very emotional for the duration of proceedings.
